one of the internet articles that I found very helpful is this link below by threads magazine.

After reading this articles I decided to have a go but first I had to do a bit more research so I went on YouTube to see other peoples experiences.
These are the steps I took to make my mannequin.
Things you'll need
News paper, expanding foam, duck tape, small plastic bottle, cardboared, old shirt
1, get someone to duck tape your body, make sure you use 3 layers of tape. After you've finished doing the duck tape cut the duck tape vertically down the back( Please be careful )
2, when your out of the duck tape, put a hangar in it and tape the body form duck tape up at the back.
3, start rolling tight news paper balls and stuff the torso up to the hips and arms. Then spray expanding foam into the neck area so the hanger will stay put when dried.
4, when the expanding foam is dried cover the neck and arm wholes with cardboard circles and tape them up.
5, spray expanding foam into the rest of the torso and place a plastic bottle in the middle of the expanding foam. Then cover the bottom of the mannequin with a cardboard base and a whole for the bottle. Then tape the bases make sure not to cover the whole because the whole point of the whole is so you can put your mannequin onto a stand.
6, to make a cover for your mannequin trace around it making sure to add seam allowance and then just stitch around it leaving the neck and bottom open.
And this was my result, not bad for my first go and my last lol im not going though the agony of duck tapping myself again but it was really worth it tho :). The mannequin is fab to work with and the measurements and body shape matches my own body so with a bit of patience it really does work.
